AUGUST 5, 2017- Saturday - How about a TUBING experience on the Deerfield River. Our members Steve LaClair and Elaine, who have been
tubing for few years, would like to share this adventure and guide you on this 2 - l/2 hour tubing ride on the Deerfield River.
Great Outdoors located on the Mohawk Trail (Rte 2) at 78 Main St., Charlemont, Mass. Great Outdoors has a parking lot and shuttle service to the Zoar picnic area” and has a store where you can rent a tube for $20.00. I recommend you just buy a tube, if you destroy it you own it. Or you can use your own tube. You will be amazed at what people float with (air mattress, noodles). If we have enough vehicles, the shuttle will not be necessary, but may need to pay for parking at Great Outdoors. We can have vehicles at both locations. Life vest are not mandatory, although you will want to wear some kind of sandal or shoes that tie or will stay on your feet. Please visit the website: http:/www.greatoutdoors-deerfieldriver.com for information.
Meeting Place: Drive to the Great Outdoors parking area to meet at 10:00 am. The dam release is usually between 10-11and takes 2 hours to reach the picnic area to begin around 1ish. Get directions from the Website. Suggest bringing a picnic lunch and change of clothes. Facilities on site.
County Aire Campground http://www.countryairecampground.com/
Elaine and I are camping Friday(08/04) thru Sunday(08/06). If you intend on camping I recommend that you make a reservation ASAP.
This is a weather dependent event, if it rains it’s cancelled. Cloudy skies with NO rain is fun too. Gonna get wet anyway!
Feel free to give me a call for more details and review the information attached. Thank You Stephen & Elaine.
