Summer 2013 Edition

42nd Publication

Summer is here and everyone’s mind is a long way from skiing.  But the Board of Directors, Trip Coordinators and Officers have been busy conducting the business of the club.  They have been busy with planning next year’s trip destinations, planning the summer outing, discussing and planning some warm weather activities and revenue management.

First, I would like to introduce the two new members of the BOD, Donna Lamura and Teresa Pierce as well as the club’s new Secretary Lynn Moakley.  We would like to thank the outgoing BOD members Judy Perla and Eric Schatziein and the overworked Secretary Cheryl Foley.  Please, give them a big round of applause.

An Activity Committee has been formed and have assumed the responsibility of planning and coordinating the Annual Summer Outing as well as other activities other than trip planning.

The Activity Committee’s first task was to plan the Annual Summer Outing for July 20, 2013 at the Swedish Social Club on Wyman’s Lake in Westminster.  You should have received a EMAIL Blitz with the flyer attached announcing all the fun the committee has planned for the outing.  After I read the flyer I realized this is not going to be your ordinary outing once you get Julie going!  Follow the directions in the flyer and RSVP to David as soon as you can.  Remember, all trip sign-ups cannot be taken until the outing so this is everyone’s first chance to get on one of the trips.  You should really plan to attend the Summer Outing; it is a great way to spend a summer afternoon on the lake.

The Activity Committee is also working and planning other warm weather activities such as cycling, hiking and kayaking so stay tuned to your email for those blitzes announcing those events.

This coming ski seasons week trip will be taking the club to Aspen / Snowmass Colorado from Saturday March 1 through to Saturday March 8, 2014.  We will be staying in Snowmass just steps away from the slopes and will have the opportunity to ski all four mountains; Snowmass, Aspen, Aspen Heights and Buttermilk.

The first weekend trip will be “Redux Bretton Woods / Washington Hotel.”  It was such a s popular trip the trip committee choose to go here again.  We secured the same pricing as last year.  The trip dates are Friday January 3 to Sunday January 5, 2014.  It will be time to ski out in grand style again to kickoff the new ski season.

The second weekend trip is toe Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine.  This is a club’s favorite destination and early spring always brings good snow to the mountain.  The dates are Thursday March 27 to Sunday March 30, 2014.

Flyers for these trips will be blitzed so you can read and contemplate your choices prior to the Summer Outing.  The flyers will also be put on the website.

Now down to the business.  You will find the Membership Application and Release of Liability (ROL) attached in the packet.  Please fill out the forms and return them to the registrar with your membership fee.
